NIMBA COUNTY — A man identified to be a redundant worker of Afcons Infrastructures Limited hijacked and reportedly took away over $17, 000 United States Dollars from the company during payments of its redundant workers.
The drama occurred Thursday, February 29, 2024, at the company’s office in Yekepa, Nimba County District #3. Afcons Infrastructure Limited operates in Liberia as sub-contractor under the global steel giant company, Arcelor Mittal undertaking the infrastructure components of the company in Mount Tokedeh, ArcelorMitta Liberia mining area.
As one of several of Arcelor Mittal Liberia’s subcontractors, Afcons Infrastructure Limited is constructing a concentrator plant, a power plant, and other infrastructure that are vital for Arcelor Mittal to expand its production capacity from 4 million tons to 15 million tons.
At present, AFCONS is simultaneously executing major overseas projects in Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, and Liberia. Actively pursuing new markets in the Middle East and Africa.
A WomenVoices correspondent in Nimba county reports that Sneijder Dolo, the redundant worker of Afcons Infrastructures Limited has earlier argued with the company that he did not stay out of a job for 14 days after the AFCONS claimed he failed to show up at job for the number of days mentioned, thereby deducting a portion of his money to partway with the company including several others.
Eyewitnesses told our reporter that the dramatic event had started following the controversy, adding that Sneijder Dolo immediately walked towards the finance table, hijacked, and ran away with several brown envelopes, which allegedly contained the sum of over $17,000 United States Dollars initially intended to pay off about hundreds of redundant workers from the company.
It is not yet clear how Sneijder Dolo allegedly matched among hundreds of his fellow redundant staff, and the presence of private securities on duty to escape with the large amount without being arrested as his dramatic occurrence remains all over the public as fugitive.
Eyewitnesses’ opinions described Sneijder Dolo’s exploration and his dramatic escape from the company’s fence as an extraordinary demonstration to the highest estant beyond expectations.
The company, Afcons Infrastructure Limited is meanwhile yet to release an official statement to order an arrest warrant for the young man.
