The Director General of the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority, (NaFAA) Madam Emma Metieh Glassco has with immediate effect ordered Fishermen across the nine Coastal County to resume fishing while they make their payment for the 2024 fishing season.

A NaFAA Press release quotes the DG Emma Metieh Glassco as saying “fishermen in the coastal counties should go about fishing beginning today February 20, 2024 to enable them pay their fishing license fees for the 2024 fishing season.”

Madam Glassco said fishermen can fishing from today Tuesday February 20, 2024 to March 30, 2024 while they make their payments to NaFAA compliance and enforcement teams currently assigned across the nine coastal counties.

It can be recalled the Houses’ Committee on Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries have been negotiating with Authority of NaFAA over the payment of the 2024 fishing license fees after some Fanti Fishermen were calling for reduction in the fishing license fees.

The Fanti Fishermen have since called on other fishermen across Liberia to desist from the payment of the 2024 fishing license fees, thus causing a huge reduction in the payment of fees across the nine coastal counties.
