The Newly Inaugurated President of the Society of Women’s Engineering of Liberia has charged young women to volunteer for services that will make a great positive difference in society.

According to Engineer Winnie Mameni Siakor-Dilah, women are very serious and determined people in society and they can make a big difference in whatever they decide to do both Public and private.

Winnie Mameni Siakor-Dilah who was over the weekend inducted as president of the Society of women engineering of Liberia stated as president of SWEL, she and her co-officers are going to  work tirelessly to reactivate their  current membership and our established chapters, in all the technical universities

and technical institutions acrOss the country.

The Newly Inaugurated President added A pilot STEM scholarship program for women and girls in terrariy institutions with the goal of expanding it over time  As part of our plan, we want to build our website and populate it with appropriate data and re-brand our organization, ensuring visibility on the national scene.

“We will create a national STEM Resource Centre to aid with both offline

and online study in the foundational sciences, We will embark on policy advocacy for government and private sector to incentivize STEM in public schools and colleges”.

 Madam Siakor-Dilah said their long-term plan is to Initiate resource mobilization plans to construct an integrated SWEL secretariat that provides diverse STEM supportive services.

She narrated that Moreover, as the elected executive, the future. their goal may reach greater heights if we maintain our commitment, we cannot succeed until everyone contributes.

She said since SWEL’S inception in 2012, we’ve come a long way, but we still adhere to many of the same tried-and-true principles that governed our formation they are going to adhere to these Principles.

Winnie further said that We are counting on numerous subcommittees to help us attain our objective, and I personally would like to salute everyone involved and encourage you to keep up the excellent work.

For her part, the outgoing President of SWEL Liberia Public Works Minister Ruth Coker Collins said it was a New day in the Society of Women’s Engineering of Liberia to see where they had come from.

According to the Public Works Minister, it’s time that Young Women in high schools University get involved in the Engineering Science area in other to help build a better Liberia for themselves and the Country.

She mentioned that Engineering Science is a vital component of the Generation of Young Women and they should see it as a way of getting involved with it that will help them in town to come.

The program held on Saturday, July 1, 2023, was graced by International partners, the Government of Liberia, the University of Liberia, USAID Engineering Society of Liberia, and other business organizations at the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Ministerial Complex in Congo Town.
