President Joseph Nyumah Boakai has broken ground for the construction of a National Clinical Diagnostic and Treatment Laboratory to be built at the 14 – 14 Military Hospital in Margibi County. The Liberian Leader described the endeavor as a significant milestone in the advancement of the nation’s healthcare infrastructure.
“Here we are, taking on an endeavor for the betterment of one of the most critical need areas in our socio-economic dispensation. What we are here to kick off today passes for a significant milestone in the advancement of our nation’s healthcare infrastructure.”
The President asserted that the facility would fill a void that for so long deprived Liberians of having access to proper treatments.
Therefore, the diagnostic center will serve as a beacon of hope and progress for Liberians.
The project, which is sponsored by the Chinese Government and implemented by China Aid Liberia, the President provided that it symbolizes the strength and depth of the partnership between the two nations.
“This remarkable project, sponsored by the Chinese Government and implemented by China Aid Liberia, symbolizes the strength and depth of the partnership between our two nations. It is a testament to the shared commitment to improving the health and well-being of the citizens of Liberia. I extend my heartfelt appreciation to the Government and people of the People’s Republic of China for their unwavering support and commitment to Liberia’s development.”
The President continued by adding that the construction of this laboratory is not just about building one other physical structure, but it is about building a future wherein every Liberian has access to high-quality healthcare services. He added that the facility will address the presently challenged diagnostic and treatment capabilities, enabling Liberia to more robustly confront and resolve public health challenges, respond to medical emergencies, and improve the overall health outcomes of the population.
“This facility will be an unbending cord in the structure of our healthcare system, providing cutting-edge diagnostic and treatment services that will save lives and improve the quality of life for countless individuals.”
The Liberian leader lauded the People’s Republic of China for their invaluable contribution to the project.
“In closing, I want to reiterate my deepest gratitude to our partners from the People’s Republic of China for their invaluable contribution to this project. We are confident to proclaim that, together, we are building a stronger, healthier, more productive Liberia.”
For his part, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China accredited near Monrovia, Ambassador Yin Chinwu, stated that the groundbreaking of the China-Aid Project of the National Clinical Diagnosis and Treatment Laboratory at the 14th Military Hospital is a symbol of the shared vision, enduring friendship, and fruitful cooperation between Liberia and China.
Ambassador Yin stated that the Project demonstrates China’s strong determination to implement the outcomes of the meeting between President Xi Jinping and President Boakai during the 2024 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
Adding that the project serves as a symbol of common commitment to mutual development and cooperation, it also embodies the vision set forth during the Summit.
“As I see, the Project is meaningful. First, the Project demonstrates China’s strong determination to implement the outcomes of the meeting between President Xi Jinping and President Boakai during the 2024 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
It is the first groundbreaking facility of China-Aid projects following the meeting, showcasing the elevation of our bilateral relationship to a strategic partnership announced by our two heads of state. The Project serves as a symbol of a common commitment to mutual development and cooperation and also embodies the vision set forth during the Summit, that is, “Joining Hands to Advance Modernization and Build a Community with a Shared Future.”
In furtherance, the Chinese Diplomat employed that Project exemplifies the commitments made by China during the Beijing Summit of the FOCAC, embodying the principles of the Partnership Action for Health and the Partnership Action for Common Security under the framework of the Ten Partnership Actions.
He asserted that prioritizing the enhancement of healthcare infrastructure and the promotion of regional stability highlights the shared vision of China and Liberia for sustainable development and mutual prosperity.
