….Wants Communication Enhance Education

President Joseph Nyuma Boakai on Friday, August 16, 2024, broke ground for the construction of the China-Aid Refurbishment and Expansion Project of Liberia Broadcasting System.
Delivering a remark at the 5.5 million China-Aid Refurbishment and Expansion Project of Liberia Broadcasting System which was held at the headquarters of the LBS in Paynesville, President Boakai asserted that information is the indispensable fuel of education.
With this, he wants the facility be used as a means of dissemination of critical information that will play a crucial role in enhancing quality education.
“I hold that information is the indispensable fuel of education. And as we all will agree, education is the bedrock of any nation’s advancement. This expansion of facilities and means of the dissemination of critical information to the population evidently will play a crucial role in enhancing our ability to deliver quality educational content. Even further, it will help us in dissecting the nuances of governance and as well enable us to glean information from the people so as to render our decision making processes more relevant.”
President Boakai intimated that the construction of the new facility will help bridge interactional gaps between population centers and open new doors of opportunity for Liberians, and driving forward collective progress and personal development.
Moreover, he stated that the initiative is perfectly aligned with the national development agenda and reflects the vision of his government in building a connected, informed, and empowered society where development is propelled by knowledge and transparency.
In furtherance, he asserted that Liberia collaboration with China is a powerful demonstration of the strength and pertinence of its international partnerships and shared commitment to mutual growth and prosperity.
Adding that the partnership is a clear example of how global cooperation can support national development goals and create lasting positive impacts.
He added that the China-Liberia relations is not unfamiliar with Liberia and the Liberia Broadcasting System. He recalled that back in 2006-2007 they stepped forth to help with the rehabilitation of Liberia Rural Broadcasting System, involving the relay stations in a number of counties, including Bassa, Bomi, Bong, Grand Gedeh, Lofa, and Marylan and prayed that his administration looks forward to more of these dividends from such a promising bilateral relationship.
At the same time, he urged the Director General of the Liberia Broadcasting System, Engine L. Fahngon and his team at LBS to remain resolute and resolve to take the truth to the people, to pull government and the people closer together, and to promote the image of the country. He stated that the project embodies the government’s dedication to progress, education, the free exchange of ideas, as well as the expansion of public awareness of the people and the situation of the country.
“Let me remind all that as we break this ground today, we are not merely initiating the construction of one other nice building.
Ours is an effort to lay the foundation for a brighter, more informed, and participatory future for Liberia. This project thus embodies our dedication to progress, education, the free exchange of ideas, as well as the expansion of public awareness of the people on the situation and direction of their country.
I summon you hence to embrace this moment with great anticipation, optimism and enthusiasm, knowing that our collective efforts portend a more enlightened and prosperous Liberia.”
At the same time, the Chinese Ambassador H.E. Yin Chengwu has described the project as a milestone in the history of the LBS.
Stating that it is in accordance with the relevant agreement between China and Liberia, that the Chinese Government will aid the Liberian Government in refurbishing and expanding the LBS.
Ambassador Yin Chengwu provided that after the completion, China will provide the LBS with more modern working environment and more functioning equipment, improving its capabilities of program production, broadcasting, transmission, amongst others.
He asserted that it will be a significant improvement of the LBS, and will certainly be a landmark in the evolution of the LBS.
In furtherance, the ambassador intimated that
the China-Aid Refurbishment and Expansion Project of Liberia Broadcasting System is a pivotal force in addressing the needs of the Liberian people and fostering social progress.
He continued by intimating that the project is a key driver in deepening China-Liberia friendship and cooperation.
And Liberia as a good partner and friend, China places high importance on its friendly ties with Liberia. Especially since Liberia’s new administration took office, under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr, China-Liberia cooperation has been steadily growing.
He stated that the project will further enhance mutual understanding, friendship and cooperation between the two counties.
And postulated that China and Liberia will be good partners on the way to realize modernization through mutual support and alignment of the development strategy.
At the moment, China is advancing Chinese modernization by further deepening reform comprehensively, and Liberia is advancing modernization through the ARREST agenda.
