Liberia’s President Joseph Nyuma Boakai today, February 8, 2024, publicly declared his assets at/to the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) in Congo Town.
Over the last few days, pundits raised eyebrows over what they saw as the deliberate refusal of the Liberian leader to declare his assets. As he always emphasizes his commitment to transparency, the public argued that it was important the declare his assets, a decision they see as leading by example.
Following the declaration and presentation to the LACC, Mr. Boakai emphasized the importance of upholding the principles of honesty and independence within both the institution and his government.
“Transparency is the cornerstone of good governance,” President Boakai declared, his voice resonating with conviction. “As leaders, it is our duty to lead by example and demonstrate our unwavering commitment to accountability.”
He added: “We must hold ourselves accountable to the people we serve,” he declared, his words echoing through the halls of the LACC.
