….Justice Yuoh Charges Gov’t

The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Liberia, Sie-A-Nyene G. Yuoh has changed President Joseph N. Boakai’s administration to prioritize access to justice across the country.
Speaking during the formal opening of the October Term of Court of the Supreme Court, Monday, October 14, 2024, the Chief Justice asserted that without funding to the judiciary, the government will fail in its objective of achieving peace, justice, and security.
According to her, the infrastructure challenges of the judiciary are not only to the temple of justice but also to seven of the judicial circuits and almost all of the magisterial courts within the country, while curving the government’s commitment to supporting and sustaining the rule of law in Liberia.
‘’Without sufficient funding, the aspiration of the three branches of government will be unable to achieve their desired objective of maintaining peace and upholding the rule of law in Liberia. How do you expect judicial officials to perform to their best? The need for judicial complexes in all the political subdivisions of the country should be prioritized. This lead is important to the constitution’s guarantee of access to justice for everyone within and out of the territorial boundary of Liberia,’’ Justice Yuoh stated..
Responding to the Chief Justice on behalf of President Boakai and the government of Liberia, Justice Minister, and Dean of the Cabinet, Cllr. Osward Tweh said that President Boakai. takes seriously the concern raised by the judiciary and the president hopes to work with the bench in addressing that concern.
