-Cites disillusionment with leadership

Prof. Lester Zomatic Tenny, a prominent member of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), has tendered his resignation from the party. This decision comes as a result of Tenny’s disillusionment with the current leadership and a scathing critique of former President George Weah. Tenny accused Mr. Weah and his associates of corruption and negligence towards the people of Liberia.

Tenny: “Permit me to congratulate you on your preferment as acting chairman of the once powerful people’s party, the CDC. I bring to your attention my thoughtful intent to officially resign as a member of the party. This resignation is against the background that I find it completely disingenuous to cohabit and coexist in an organization where thieves, national resources looters, and murderers of our people exist.”

In his resignation letter addressed to the party chairman, Prof. Tenny expressed his discontent with what he described as a lack of integrity within the organization. He lamented the presence of individuals he deemed as “thieves, national resources looters, and murderers” within the party ranks, stating that he could no longer be a part of such a group.

Tenny, “None of us thought that the very patriot we once knew on the football pitch would turn out to be a national embarrassment and commodities thief of our people. Many of our people today live in penury and unacceptable way of life because of the selfish intent of Weah and his cronies to imprison them under the canopy of a popular people’s movement. Weah like his cohorts are fraud and only come to harvest on the blood and sweat of our people. This behavior cannot continue to triumph in this country and therefore to share the same breathing space with such a classic con artist is troubling to my soul.”

Prof. Lester Zomatic Tenny, who had been a member of the CDC since 2008, highlighted his initial belief in the party’s mission to serve the people of Liberia and bring about positive change. However, he now feels that the party has strayed from its original goals and has become a vehicle for self-serving interests.

He recalled, “When I joined the CDC in 2008, my impression was that it was a national movement for the people with a focus to facilitate the national agenda to transform the lives of our people and country. Neither did I realize those objectives were only on the manuscript of the party’s platform but were never intended to be implemented. We all hailed George Weah at the time as being a patriot due to his performance on the field of play in football.”

Specifically targeting President George Weah, Prof. Lester Zomatic Tenny accused him of betraying the trust placed in him by the Liberian people. The once-celebrated football star has been criticized for his alleged involvement in corruption and for failing to improve the living conditions of many citizens.

Moreover, he stated his intention to dedicate himself to preventing individuals like Weah and his allies from attaining power in Liberia again. His resignation signals a significant blow to the CDC and calls into question the leadership and future direction of the party.

He says: “Therefore, I write to officially leave the party as I embark on another mission to ensure that never again this bigot of a man and his cronies rise to power in this country.

Thanks Prof. Lester Zomatic Tenny, PhD.”
