Monrovia: PROPATH, a youth led organization created to help guide youth in their professional life graduates has concluded a one day “Career Workshop” for High School Students and University graduates in Monrovia.
The Career Workshop aimed at equipping young People with essential skills and insights needed to navigate the modern job market successfully. The Workshop also focused on crafting a strong Curriculum Vitae, drafting cover letters and understanding Scholarship opportunities.
During the opening session, PROPATH Executive Director, Yassah Roberts expressed enthusiasm that upon the completion of the one day workshop, participants will acquire the basic knowledge in crafting curriculum vitae, writing essays, drafting strong cover letters and how to navigate scholarship programs.
He furthered that, PROPATH as a Youth led organization has been and is involved in providing opportunities, mentorship and guidance for young people to equip them for future opportunities. The workshop which was held at the Orange Digital Centre brought together over 57 Young People from diverse backgrounds, including students, recent graduates, and professionals seeking career advancement.
The atmosphere was charged with enthusiasm as participants gathered to learn from industrial experts, Scholars and network with peers. The event featured a lineup of distinguished speakers who shared their expertise on various topics related to career development and advancement.
Among them was Edmond Lloyd, a renowned Engineer at Ministry of Public Works and a career coach who emphasized the importance of setting Smart goals in today’s fast-paced work environment. His session focused on setting a smart goal by using the following means; being specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time bond.
“An individual should have a specific goal that he or She wants to work towards by applying the smart methods which include being specific, having a said target, reaching every progress, and realistically working towards such goal and he or She should know how important that goal is and finally apply timebond by providing deadline in setting each of your smart goals and working in time”. He narrated.
“Dream big, set smart goals and watch yourself grow” Lloyd said. This interactive session allowed participants to engage directly with the speakers, asking questions and gaining valuable insights. In addition to the keynote speeches, the workshop included hands-on activities designed to enhance participants’ practical skills.
Breakout sessions covered topics such as resume writing and setting smart goals.
Participants were encouraged to practice these skills in real-time scenarios facilitated by experienced mentors. In a compelling address to the participants, the Executive Director of PROPATH, Yassah Robert emphasized the organization’s commitment to fostering talent and bridging the skills gap in various industries.
“At PROPATH, we believe that empowering individuals with the right tools and knowledge is crucial for their success,” said Executive Director’s Yassah Robert. “Today’s workshop is just one of our many initiatives we are undertaking to ensure that our community is well-prepared for the challenges ahead we are looking at the next quarter to come up with seminars, workshops and many programs for our young people”.
As the day wrapped up, feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive.
Many expressed gratitude for the knowledge gained and connections made throughout the day. “I have been to scholastic path before but I didn’t gain anything but today at PROPATH I Iearned couples of things that I had no idea about, with this knowledge I am going back to my organization to share with them“ Anna meda Bedell said
