The People Uniting for Peace in Liberia on Friday, March 3, 2023, called on the national government through the Liberia National Police to conduct a speedy investigation into the recent attacks on the home and family of former Chief Justice Gloria Musu Scott that led to the untimely death of a promising young lady, Charlo Musu, daughter of Justice Scott.
It can be recalled that on Wednesday night, February 22, 2023, a tragic crime scene hit the home of Liberia’s former Chief Justice, Cllr. Gloria Musu Scott, after men believed to be armed robbers, invaded her home, brutally killed her daughter, and wounded another victim.
The gruesome attack on the former chief justice was the third in a series of alleged armed robbery attacks at the former chief justice’s residence in Brewerville, Montserrado County.
A situation wherein the PUPFIL, through its executive director, Atty. Asatu Bai Kanneh, believes the Liberia National Police should have expeditiously acted to prevent what it describes as an “ill-repairable disaster, a malicious, cruel, and barbaric syndrome,” and a sad reminder of the dark days of Liberia’s past.
PUFPIL further expressed its heartfelt condolences to Cllr. Scott and her family.
over the grieved and dismayed that in the series of three attacks, armed assailants stormed the Virginia residence of Justice Scott, which led to the brutal stabbing to death of one of her daughters and left another critically wounded, with the former Chief Justice escaping the attackers narrowly.
PUFPIL continued by calling for a swift, impartial, and full investigation and the total leverage of justice for all those connected in the planning and execution of this wickedness.
Atty. Janneh went on to say that the attack against the former chief justice undermines the peace and stability of Liberia that every citizen enjoys today.
“In consideration of the overwhelming efforts of the government and people of Liberia, the international partners, and well-wishers of Liberia, PUPFIL decries these cowardly, inhumane, and diabolic sets of attacks and herein strongly condemns these attacks and attackers in no uncertain terms as they have the proclivity to undermine the peace and stability of the country that every citizen is enjoying.”
Atty. Janneh concluded by stating that PUFPIL ascribes to the values of freedom, safety, and the pursuit of happiness for all people.
