-Amid Fire Service Concerns



Capitol Hill, Monrovia, Liberia: The Minister of Public Works, Roland Giddings, is set to appear before the Senate on Thursday, January 23, 2025, to outline the Ministry’s work program for the upcoming fiscal year, which will impact all fifteen counties.

The Senate’s decision, made on January 16, 2025, follows a recommendation from Grand Kru County Senator Albert T. Chie, Chairman of the Public Works and Rural Development Committee. Giddings will present before the Senate Committee of a Whole.

Additionally, the Senate has approved a motion from Montserrado County Senator Saah H. Joseph to summon the Director of the Liberia National Fire Service (LNFS) on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. The Director will be asked to update lawmakers on the funding allocated for fire trucks in the 2024 budget, amid rising concerns over the agency’s response to fire incidents in Montserrado and beyond.
