Senator Dabah Varpilah, representing Grand Cape Mount County and serving as Chairperson on Health, has donated a huge amount of medical drugs to various health facilities in Gola Konneh District and throughout Grand Cape Mount County over the weekend.

Residents say the donation of drugs by Senator Varpilah is instrumental in addressing some of the challenges faced by the health teams in the county. During the donation, she emphasized the importance of having necessary medications and equipment available at local clinics to prevent unnecessary deaths from treatable illnesses.

Senator Varpilah expressed her commitment to working closely with the Ministry of Health to address basic healthcare challenges in the county. She urged the District Health Team to ensure fair distribution of the donated medicines among the clinics within the district, emphasizing that the medications are intended for the benefit of the people and should not be sold.

The District Health Officer, Momo Bai, commended Senator Varpilah for her foresight in supporting the health sector of the county and emphasized the importance of using the donated drugs for their intended purpose. He highlighted the challenges faced by the health sector, including the need for improved clinic facilities and the employment of volunteer health workers who have been providing essential services for years.

Senator Varpilah’s commitment to improving healthcare in Grand Cape Mount County was further demonstrated through a recent free medical outreach program launched in Tewor District. The program provided treatment to over one thousand patients, including individuals with eye problems. 

A total of 152 eye patients were treated, with additional patients referred for surgery at JFK Medical Center. The outreach successfully addressed a total of 1,028 medical cases, showcasing Senator Varpilah’s dedication to the health and well-being of the people in her constituency.
