…Pres. Boakai urges government officials

President Joseph Nyumah Boakai who assumed authority on the mantra of change in fighting corruption has ironically endorsed corruption as a means of aiding ordinary Liberians.
The Liberian Leader on January 22, 2024, during his inauguration as Liberia’s 26 President vowed to combat corruption as a means of repealing poverty.
“We see hard times, we see dysfunctioning. We see corruption in high and low places. And (it’s) in these and similar conditions that we have come to the rescue,” Boakai declared at his swearing-in ceremony.
President Boakai again on May 28, 2024, told the BBC that he was very selective of who he brought to the government, fearing corrupt officials would ruin his administration.
“I am very selective about who I bring to the government because a lot of people come into government believing they are there to enrich themselves.
“They don’t understand what public service is about.”
However, these statements are seen to be some of the persuasive speeches delivered by Napoleon of Animal Farm, during the Animals’ revolution against mankind.
About eleven months later, the Liberian leader of December 24, 2024, endorsed and urged his officials to use corruption as a means of rendering assistance to less fortunate Liberians.
“We want to encourage those who want to remain corrupt and steal money; I beg y’all, the money should be used to bless our people,” President Boakai said.
President Joseph Boakai remarked during the 60th-anniversary celebration of Lofa, Nimba, Bong, and Grand Gedeh counties attaining county status.
The President further averred that Liberians cannot be questioned by any authority in Liberia for whatever they do. Therefore, he expects officials of his administration to do whatever they can to build Liberia.
“This is your country. This is the only place nobody asks you why, I mean; nobody asks you why you are here. You are here because you belong here.
Let’s build this country. It has everything. So we want to encourage those who want to remain corrupt and steal your money, but I beg you, the money should be used to bless our people.”
