SANNIQUELLIE, NIMBA CO. — The Superintendent of Nimba County, Kou Meapeh Gono has sent a condolence message to Representative Musa Bility and the People of NimbaDistrict #7 following the death of at least two persons as a result of drowning in Yar River that occurred between Payee and Tiapaon August 24, 2024

It can be recalled on Saturday, two private bodyguards of Rep. Musa Bility reportedly drowned and went missing following a tragic incident at the Yar River, which flows between electoral districts #4 and #2 in Nimba County, Liberia.

Morris P. William,56, and Lawrence Yeeyea, 26, became victims when their raft overturned in the Yar River while they were en route back to District #7 after attending a groundbreaking ceremony along with their Boss, Bility.

It follows when Nimba County District # 2 Representative NyanFlomo invited his colleague, Rep. Musa Bility to do a groundbreaking for the construction of a bridge over the Year River which has served as impediment to residents of Districts 2 & 4 in that part of the county.

Both men got drowned after the raffle carrying them was hit by the current of the river in the middle and out of fear they jumped into the River and got drowned.

According to the Office of Sup. Gono official facebook page post, the Superintendent mourns and deeply saddened by the YarRiver disaster that has claimed the lives of many people over the years including the recent tragic drowning of two citizens, staffers of Representative Musa Bility of Nimba County District #7.

Superintendent Kou Meapeh Gono, on behalf of the Local Government and People of Nimba, extended heartfelt condolences to Hon. Musa Bility, especially the bereaved families for the irreparable loss sustained.

“This is a collective loss… we are all saddened. Our deepest sympathy to Hon. Musa Hassan Bility and our District #7 family” she said.

The Chairperson of the Superintendent Council of Liberian also prayed that the Almighty God will grant Rep. Bility and the People of District 7 strength, courage and fortitude during this difficult period of mourning.

The Nimba Superintendent further encouraged Representative Bility and the deceased’s families to remain steadfast in their faith during their time of bereavement.

Conveying her condolences to the two families and citizens of the district, she urged them not to despair but to draw comfort and love from the Lawmaker during their times of difficulty.

She said in the pain and deep sense of loss, the beavered families should hold to their faith in God and take comfort in the fact that many fellow citizens shared their grief.

“Although there are no words to ease the deep sorrow you feel, we wanted you to know that we are keeping you and your family in our prayers” Sup. Gono stated.

The Superintendent is meanwhile urging the People of Nimbaand friends to offer prayers for consolation and peace of mind for Hon. Bility and the beavered families in this moment of grief and sorrow.

The sudden and unexpected capsizing of the raft has left the community in shock and mourning, with many fearing the worst for the dead men.

This is not the first for such an incident to occur in the area, which is known for its challenging river crossings and limited infrastructure.

The construction of the bridge over the Yar River is seen as a critical development for the region, promising to improve safety and accessibility for the local population.

However, the current tragedy underscores the dangers that residents and workers face when attempting to navigate the river without proper infrastructure in place.

Meanwhile, Representative Musa Bility has vowed to continue work with the bridge construction over the Yar River through his Bility Development Foundation, an expert engineer firm.

The Bility Development Foundation through Representative Musa Hassan Bility has rescued several communities in NimbaCounty District#7 challenged by deplorable roads.

Reference by the rehabilitation of roads and construction of concrete bridges in his constituency, on 20 May 2024, Rep. Bility held a ceremonial ribbon cutting and dedicated a newly constructed Yarr River Bridge that connects Nimba County Districts #7 and #8 in Gbei Taingbain Town.

As a prominent figure in politics and the business community, Bility has consistently demonstrated his commitment to social responsibility through various charitable and philanthropic efforts aimed at improving the lives of the Liberian people.
