MONROVIA –Associate Justice Yormie Gbeisay has mandated lawmakers seeking the removal of Speaker J. Fonati Koffa, to return to the main House chamber and conduct their legislative activities in accordance with legal protocols and due process.
During a recent conference led by Associate Justice Yormie Gbeisay, Cllr. H. Varney Sherman, representing the faction opposed to Speaker Koffa, acknowledged that the necessary formal proceedings for the Speaker’s removal have not yet been initiated. He conceded that, in the absence of such proceedings, Speaker Koffa remains in his position, rendering any attempts to prohibit his actions premature.
Cllr. Syrennius Cephas and former Associate Justice Kabineh Ja’neh, who represented Speaker Koffa, emphasized the importance of adhering to due process as outlined in Article 49 of the Constitution.
Following the decision, Representative Foday Fahnbulleh addressed reporters at the Temple of Justice, stating that the anti-Koffa lawmakers would adhere to the due process but said would be done in the joint of the Legislature.
