As the Liberian media continues to experience extensive growth, a new entity, dubbed: ‘Tarplah TV’ has been birthed in Monrovia, through the vision of young minds who are equipped with ardent media literacy.
Tarplah TV is a non-political platform established on October 4, 2023, to help keep the public abreast with credible information and major happenings.
Serving as a keynote speaker at the official launch of a television platform, Kollie Gaygay said the idea of establishing the Tarplah was crafted by just one person and was later sold out to great brains.
Gaygay: “It started in less than two years but see how far they have traveled, barely under two years, they have marketed themselves to be among the youngest and fastest growing online television platforms in Liberia and outside Liberia”. Kollie Gaygay explained.
The Liberian Businessman also said although, in a short time, the institution has made some achievements Liberians are not yet pleased until they can fulfill the full purpose as a professional media institution, that is operating in a tense political country like Liberia.
“The media is a neutral body meant to feel the people with the day-to-day happening in and around the world. Therefore, the media plays an important role in the survivability of any nation” Says Gaygay.
He appreciated the brain behind the platform that promotes young talents and creates jobs for Liberians in the media sector. Kollie Gaygay is a Liberian businessman, an actor, and an activist.
Howbeit, Kollie Gaygay accused the mass media of being biased and political. He argued that Liberian politicians have somehow succeeded in owning Ninety percent of Media institutions throughout the Country, something according to him is responsible for many media actors to be biased in all of their reportage.
Gaygay said the Liberian media is corrupt and biased in their news reportage including information that is sometimes placed on social media by some journalists that has been used by politicians to bring down their opponents during the electoral period.
