Montserrado District #7 Representative-elect, Hon. Emmanuel Dahn has indicated that the speakership election is between Deputy Speaker J. Fonati Koffa and his colleague Rep. Richard Nagbe Koon and Members of the House of Representatives, who are the voters and has nothing to do with President-elect, Amb. Joseph Nyumah Boakai.
Rep. Dahn made the clarity on Thursday, January 11, 2023, in Monrovia, when he addressed the Media.
Rep. Dahn who is Kofa’s Speakership Spokesperson also clarified the report on a story that was published in the Oracle Newspaper with a headline ascribing the speakership election between President-elect Amb. Joseph Nyumah Boakai and Rep. Koffa.
“While we appreciate the media for their partnership in this pursuit, we, as the Majority Block for Koffa’s Speakership, reject this posture”, he said.
He reaffirmed the Majority Block for Koffa’s Speakership commitment to working collaboratively with the incoming administration in the interest of the Liberian people.
He also called on the President-elect to trust Koffa Block that they are going to work with his administration.
Meanwhile, he said they are expected to have a retreat and Rep. Koffa has asked that President-elect Boakai be invited to forge ahead with the agenda of his administration.
“Let’s stop ascribing the speakership elections as if it’s competition between Amb. Boakai and Rep. Koffa. It’s between two colleagues and so we as members of the 54 Legislature and 72 of us will be voting on that day”.
