-While on duty In Nimba Nimba County

NIMBA COUNTY- Women Voices Newspaper has received report that an officer of the Liberia Immigration Service, in Ganta City, Nimba County, has been hospitalized at the Ganta United Methodist Hospital after being hit and sustained several significant injuries by a speeding vehicle at the Sokopa checkpoint in Nimba County.
LIS Officer, Ralphel L. Leama, age 48 on Sunday, October 29, 2023 at 11:30pm was hit by a black Mazada Taxi bearing license plate number A113239 owned and operated by a 37-year-old driver identified as Mamadou Barry, a Fulani and resident of Monrovia.
Sources close to police authorities in the County told this paper that Officer Leama was serving a duty when he was pick-up by a black Mazada Taxi car and caused him serious injured while on service at the Sokopa checkpoint.
According to the report, LIS Leama amputated both his legs and arms due to the fracture accident. Photos in possession of this paper shows the LIS officer suffering from severe injuries both legs and arms, resulting him to be hospitalized at the Ganta United Methodist Hospital undergoing surgery.
The report furthered that prior to the fracture incident, the driver was known for overspending, a situation that landed him into the Sokopa checkpoint and knockdown Officer Leama, causing several injuries.
The 37-year-old driver identified as Mamadou Barry, has been arrested and undergoing police interrogation at the Ganta Zone 1 Base Police Station, while the black Mazada Taxi bearing license plate number A113239 is impounded.
At the same time- Authorities of the Liberia National Police in that part of Nimba County on Sunday, October 29, 2023 reported that a human skeleton has been found in a remote area in Zorgowee Town.
According to the police, a resident of the area only identified as Oldpa called first responder, the deceased’s son, Nyan Dolo regarding the lifeless body that appeared to be his father, Moses Dolo who went missing since October 25, 2023.
Police authorities revealed that prior to the incident, Nyan Dolo has complained to detectives and other family members about his father usually hunting and risking his life in the river. He also told them that the deceased on numerous occasions was advised to desist, but would not listen.
The police preliminary investigation disclosed that following medical examination on the remains by a medical worker of the Zorgowee Clinic, Nyan P. Gbormie, with license number 11481 pronounced the 75-year-old dead.
At the same time, a further examination conducted by 15men coroner jury headed by the District Coroner Officer, Isaac Grawah reported no foul played, attributing the death of Moses Dolo as the result of drowning.
Coroner Isaac Grawah notified the detectives and journalists who went on the scene about the river deepness, containing 10-12 feet higher than normal, due to a large amount of rain few days prior to the occurrence and the dam was recording sequence flood a minute.
Meanwhile, the head of family members of the homicide, James Dolo Sr. requested the police to turnover the deceased’s body for burial, which the police granted.
It is reported that the 75-year-old man died due to the fact that the speed of the water on that day was deadly, and also within the river there are several rock formations where he jumped in getting into the river.
