The Civil Service Agency of Liberia has officially inaugurated the National Civil Service Testing Center, marking a significant milestone in the country’s public service recruitment process. During the inauguration ceremony, Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung hailed the modern, computer-based facility as a landmark achievement that underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing the integrity and efficiency of civil service recruitment.
VP Koung emphasized the vital role that the civil service plays as the backbone of the nation’s workforce, asserting the necessity for government officials to recruit individuals who embody quality, competence, patriotism, and dedication. He noted that the establishment of the testing center will ensure that Liberia’s civil service is built on a foundation of skilled and qualified individuals, reflecting the nation’s core values of integrity and efficiency.
“This facility represents more than just an investment in technology; it signifies a transformative shift in how we select those who will serve Liberia,” VP Koung stated. He criticized the previous paper-based recruitment system, which he argued allowed individuals lacking the necessary skills to enter the civil service, undermining the quality of public administration.
The Vice President commended the Civil Service Agency for its visionary leadership in establishing the testing center, which he believes will enhance the credibility of the recruitment process. He asserted that securing a position in government will now rely on merit, competence, and a genuine desire to serve the people of Liberia.
Highlighting the center’s importance, VP Koung pointed out that it is equipped with high-performance technology and specialized assessment tools designed to facilitate timely and secure evaluations of candidates. He stated that this advancement will ultimately strengthen the civil service sector and improve service delivery for all Liberians.
Reiterating the government’s commitment to fostering values such as fairness, integrity, and excellence in public service, VP Koung called for a collective effort to bolster the civil service and contribute to Liberia’s prosperity. He urged stakeholders to fully utilize the new facility, ensuring that standardized, competency-based assessments are implemented so that only the most qualified individuals dedicated to national development enter the ranks of civil service.
