Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection of the Republic of Liberia
Mrs. Williametta E. Saydee-Tarr is the Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection of the Republic of Liberia. She is an experienced Social Policy, Communications, Business, and Non-profit professional with over fifteen years of senior managerial proficiency. A consummate well-rounded professional, Mrs. Saydee-Tarr is passionate about the rights and wellbeing of the underclass and most vulnerable members of the society.
She is an ardent advocate for women’s, children’s, and youth’s rights.A self-motivated, results-oriented executive, she has a penchant for diversity and enjoys working with diverse groups; she is presently leveraging her multiple skills within an innovative senior Government of Liberia Executive Cabinet environment where she ensures work implementation, staff/organizational growth and sustainability of impactful high performance – particularly in a fast-paced “Pro-poor Governance” Policy environment. With a background in Restorative Justice and Advocacy, she has unique abilities to marry national international advocacy efforts given her decade of work as an African community advocate in the Diaspora with immigrant families, and her extensive similar work at home.
Mrs.Williametta E. Saydee-Tarr is the Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection of the Republic of Liberia. Prior to serving in her present post as Minister, Mrs.Saydee-Tarr was the founding Executive Director of the Gbowee Peace Foundation Africa (GPFA), where she fundraised and coordinated worldwide scholarships for women and girls, ensured capacity building and development, forged and nurtured donor strategic partnerships, and managed donor, Civil Society and Government collaboration efforts to implement the Foundation’s philanthropic goals. She effectively fundraised and instituted the Foundation’s granular level approach for local communities to keep safe during the EBOLA crisis. She holds a Master in Advocacy and Political Leadership degree from the University of Minnesota in Duluth, MN, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications Studies from the University of Saint Thomas in St. Paul, MN and, an Associate of Science degree in Business Management from the Minneapolis Community and Technical College.
