-Aims at promoting peaceful electoral environment, community security in Liberia

For the last three days, Angie Brooks Foundation, through the Women’s Situation (WSR), conglomerated women, and young Liberians (Includng (At-risk-youth), at the Cecil Dennis Conference Hall at the Ministry of Foerign Affairs, as part of a three-day women’s political, mediation, and peace dialogue, aimed at Promoting a peaceful electoral environment and community security in Liberia.

At the climax of the dialogue on Thursday, April 4, 2024, Foreign Minister Sara Nyati emphasized the significance of women being afforded the space inorder to excel.

According to her, the state of the nation is at fifty percent but if Liberia must reach hubdren percent, women must be included at all levels.

She encouraged women to support their fellow women. “Support the girl in your community. For every woman who wins, all of us win,” the Liberian Foreign Minister noted.

Moreover, Madwm Nyanti frowned at the awkward wave of bullying in the Liberian society, especially in the Liberian society. 

“Socity should say no to bullying.” She say it plays in Liberia daily politics.

From her end, Cllr. Olubanke King Akerele acclaimed the Foreign Minister resilience, and embraced women that participated in the just ended elections. She noted that the Women’s Situation Room establishmet concurs with the UN Security Council 1325.

The Liberian ex Foreign Minister stated that gatherings, like the Women’s Situation Room (WSR) dialogue is significant in preparing for the pending by election in Nimba and the 2029 general elections.

Meanwhile, UNDP Residnt Representative, Mr. Louise kuukpenspecial representative at the event hailed the Women’s Situation Room (WSR) for organizing the dalogue. He acknowledges that the dialogue allies with the UN agenda:

He wants Liberians to honor those that drought for what Kiberians now enjoy, as he believe they laid the foundation. He commend ABIC for the collaboration with the eminent from all background.

In his opinion, the significance of the dialogue can’t be overemphasize, as it points toward reflecting on the recent elections, and women’s voices. He’s convince that the dialogue will inspire concrete actions that have the proclivity to deliver positive change. “Yes you can, yes we can:” 

Moreover,he rallied the need to embraced the quest in creating a conducive space for women. He looks forward to more engagement of such, and assured the UNDP commitment towards the growth and development of Liberia.

On Tuesday, April 2, 2024, the Women’s Situation Room (WSR), kick-started a three-day women’s political, mediation, and peace dialogue, aimed at Promoting a peaceful electoral environment and community security in Liberia.

Tagged: “Promoting peaceful electoral environment and community security in Liberia Women’s Situation Room,” Tuesday, April 2, 2024, unveiled day one of the dialogue. Divided into three parts, day one dealt with security, media, open discussion, and a way forward.

Scores of women from different works of life joined Madam Olubake King Akerele and her team to reflect on the 2023, general elections, as they identified challenges, missteps and prooffered recommendations for future elections.

Wednesday, April 3, 2024, marked day two of the three-day women’s political, mediation, and peace dialogue, but basically focused on the at-risk youth and first time voters. 

Cllr. Yvette Chesson Wureh, the Establishing Coordinator of Angie Brooks International and the Initiator of the Women’s Situation Room (WSR) rallied at-risk youth of Liberia to take ownership of the country and not be swayed by divisive politics or external influences.

In a statement via Zoom on day two of the Women’s Situation Room (WSR) women’s dialogue in Monrovia, Cllr. Yvette Chesson Wureh expressed concern about disadvantaged youth being manipulated by politicians for monetary gain. She highlighted the risks and consequences faced by young people who engage in political disturbances, ad urged them to channel their passion towards building a peaceful and prosperous Liberia.

The Women’s Situation Room (WSR) is a women’s peace-building mechanism for the mitigation of conflict before, during, and after elections in African countries.
