A renowned African female group, the Africa Women Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum (AWIEF) has opened nominations for its 2021 annual AWIEF Awards. 

Entries and nominations for the 2021 AWIEF Awards began on 15 July 2021 and close on 23 August 2021. One can either nominate onerself or be nominated by someone else.

This year’s themeis “Advancing inclusive, resilient and sustainable growth in the post-COVID-19 African economy.

For over five years, the AWIEF Awards recognize, honor, and celebrate women entrepreneurs and business owners in Africa and across various industry sectors. The awards also praise women for their achievements and contribution to Africa’s inclusive economic growth and social development.

The AWIEF Awards cover emerging and established entrepreneurship in the private and not-for-profit sectors.

The Awards nominees are women who have demonstrated outstanding vision and inspiration and have overcome challenges to make a significant social impact and success in business.

Daisy Mmabatho Molefhi, Founder and Vice Chancellor of ABM University College, emerged winner as last year’s winner in the category of Lifetime Achievement Award.

Commenting on the awards, Daisy said, “It was a great honor to receive this award. I want to see many more women holding this trophy. It’s so significant to me, and I want to encourage women out there to enter or nominate someone so that Africa can recognize them.”

Irene Ochem, AWIEF Founder and CEO commented, “We have been amazed by the standard of entries over the years. This year we project entries from entrepreneurs who will be addressing some of humanities greatest concerns, especially in the current COVID-19 pandemic challenges. Each entrant is firmly grounded in the reality of the African landscape, presenting practical solutions to address relevant issues.”

Winners of the 2021 AWIEF Awards will be announced and celebrated at the 7th Africa Women Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum (AWIEF) Virtual Conference and Awards hosted on 2nd to 3rd December 2021.

The eight AWIEF Awards categories including the following Young Entrepreneur Award; Tech Entrepreneur Award; Agri Entrepreneur Award; and Creative Industry Award.

The rest are Empowerment Award; Energy Entrepreneur Award; Social Entrepreneur Award; and Lifetime Achievement Award.
