Cllr. Tiawan Saye Gongloe has said that they will sweep corruption out of the current government of Liberia.

Cllr. Gongloe made the statement on Sunday, August 7, 2022 at the Robert International Airport when he spoke to reporters upon his return to Liberia from the United States of America.

The Human Rights Lawyer was seen holding a broom while rallying Liberians to gather and sweep corruption out of this government.

According to him, unfortunately, the government that was elected by the young people is now introducing domestic terrorism, and the first victims are the young people.

He indicated that what happened to the Student Unification Party (SUP) on July 26, 2022 was unexpected, emphasizing that it was the first time in the history of Liberia that July 26 had been so desecrated and it is now called “Bloody July 26” under the regime of President Weah.

“This is one of his achievements and it will go down in history that under the administration of President Weah, July 26, the Independence Day of Liberia was downgraded and made bloody.” “All Liberian historians will say that July 26 turned bloody under President Weah and this is not the achievement that the Liberian people expected,” Cllr. Gongloe said.

Speaking further, he told journalists that the level of poverty in Liberia is increasing every day because of the degree of corruption.

He also disclosed that the majority of Liberians in the United States are complaining that the number of Liberians here that are begging them has increased and they are no longer begging for bundles of zinc to roof their houses or bags of cement, but they are begging for money to buy 25 KG of rice.

“This is how low this country has gone. The level of poverty has increased and the quality of baggers has also increased.” “Professional people are begging because they do not have a job and yet our President is so insensitive to the suffering of the people and he is doing ‘Buga Dance’ and all that,” he asserts.

Cllr. Gongloe noted that people are so annoyed about the USA begging to the extend that Liberians have become laughing stock as other Africans are showing video clip of President Weah dancing ‘Buga Dance’ while the country lacks sufficient medication to treat the people and the level of hunger is high because Liberia do not produce her own food.

He claimed that lot of children are out of school and yet President Weah is dancing ‘Buga Dance’ adding that “that is why we have to assemble; we will sweep Corruption out of this government”.
